Coastal communities are increasingly vulnerable to the escalating impacts of climate change, necessitating robust preparedness actions at the individual and household levels. This paper investigates the intricate mechanisms through which climate risk communication influences behavioral adherence regarding disaster preparedness among coastal resident samples. By synthesizing perspectives from environmental sociology, behavioral psychology, and communication studies, the research explores how the dissemination of risk-related information translates into sustained protective actions. A comprehensive analytical framework is utilized to evaluate the efficacy of various communication channels, including localized warning systems, community-based outreach, and digital media, in fostering long-term behavioral changes. The study emphasizes the critical role of cognitive appraisal and risk perception as mediating factors between the receipt of information and the execution of preparedness protocols. Through empirical data analysis of diverse coastal demographics, the paper identifies the primary socio-economic and psychological barriers that impede adherence to recommended safety measures. The findings suggest that linear models of communication are insufficient for promoting sustained resilience; instead, participatory and context-specific communication strategies are essential. Ultimately, this research provides policymakers and emergency management agencies with actionable insights to optimize risk communication frameworks, enhance community engagement, and facilitate improved disaster readiness in high-risk coastal environments.References
